I just checked out her interview and images with Lanie Kazzan and it was great. For any artist or performer you have to apprecaite people like Lenore that will go out of there way to not get an interview with you but to help promote you as well as your films and projects. If it was not for people like Lenore and my Family and Friedns i would never be at this point where i am today. After 150 films were seen by an estimated 30,000 people in and around Asbury Park this weekend, the ninth annual Garden State Film Festival wrapped up with a gala awards dinner Sunday night at the English Manor.

“I feel like Cinderella at the ball, I really do,” said Sea Girt’s Diane Raver, executive director of the festival, early in the night.

Actor Joe Sernio received the festival’s Robert Pastorelli Rising Star Award, an honor named after the late actor who co-founded the festival.

In his acceptance speech, Sernio said aspiring actors shouldn’t enter the field out of a desire for fame and fortune, advising that “if you’re in it for the love of the craft of acting and the love of film, then you’re in for a hell of a ride.”

A number of entertainment luminaries were honored, including “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” (2002) actress Lainie Kazan, who received the Beacon Award, and Clarence Clemons, a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, who was the recipient of the Spirit of New Jersey Award.

“I think it’s fabulous, I’ve never been treated so beautifully,” said Kazan, discussing the festival. “I’ve met some incredible people, I ate some incredible food and I’m very happy to be here.”

Kazan’s film “Expecting Mary” picked up the festival’s Bud Abbott Award for Feature-Length Comedy.

“It’s a delightful, sweet, heartwarming family film and I think it was very well received,” said Kazan. “It’s a very moving little piece and I worked with some great people in it, (including) Elliott Gould and Cybill Shepherd.”

Among the other attendees was Ocean Township native Michael Uslan, who has served as the executive producer of every Batman film since Tim Burton’s “Batman” (1989).

Discussing this year’s festival, Uslan said, “I think it’s taken a light year jump forward. . . . There’s a glow about it this year.”

Uslan also said he and his wife were “blown away” by “Expecting Mary,” describing it as “a cross between “Juno’ (2007) and ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ (2006).”

“It’s great to see the kind of quality of film this film festival attracts,” Uslan said.

During the festival, which ran Thursday through Sunday, films were screened at six venues, including the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park and Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Deal.

Along with the film screenings, this year’s festival included panel discussions in Asbury Park at the Parlor Gallery, the Wonder Bar and McLoone’s Supper Club.

WOW .. When i received the call to let me know i was being considered it was an honor just to hear that. Then hearing that i won the award i had tears in my eyes… I can not thank everyone enough for all of your support through the years. Not many people know what it takes to do what actors do or go through what actors go through. Its not the hardest job in the world but it is definitely not the easiest by any means but having support from family and friends make it all worth doing it.

A few years back before i even knew of this award i use to study Robert Pastorelli in some of my classes. He had the most natural form of acting i have ever seen. He draws you in the second you start watching. He did a show called Cracker – Mind Over Murder, from the opening scene through the series he gives some of the most amazing monologues i have ever watched.  I’m sure most people know him for his work on Murphy brown as the painter, but he is much much more than just the painter.His credits are all very strong. Actors are lucky if they get there 1 or 2 jobs a year. Pastorelli was working 3 or more jobs a year. Striking Distance, Dances with Wolves, Be Cool, Michael, and that’s just to name a few. If your getting into acting or already into acting you have to watch some of his work. True Talent describes it the best.

It is truly an honor to have an award like this and to especially have something in the form of an award given to me with the Pastorelli name on it. I promise to take this award in all future adventures i choose and to help keep the Pastorelli name strong. treetwise mobster-turned-movie producer Chili Palmer is back, but this time Chili has abandoned the fickle movie industry and veered into the music business, tangling with Russian mobsters and gangsta rappers and taking a talented, feisty young singer named Linda Moon under his wing. From the recording studio to an Aerosmith concert to the MTV Music Awards, he manipulates events to watch them play out the Chili way, using his signature blend of wiseguy skills and negotiation tactics.
